What Is Plaque Mounting? A Simple Way to Display Your Posters, Prints, and Photos
You have a poster that you want to hang on the wall. It is a great trip map, but it could curl or become damaged when hanging. You could frame it, but it could also be expensive. Plaque mounting is a simple and durable method of displaying your favorite posters, maps, and certificates without having to worry about a traditional frame. Here is what you need to know about plaque mounting, including a few items that you can mount plus some reasons why it is popular.
What Is Plaque Mounting?
What is plaque mounting? Plaque mounting comprises laminating your print/document on a custom-cut high-quality wooden frame using pressure-sensitive adhesive laminates with a matte surface to achieve a clean, elegant look without any framing needed. The mounted plaque will have a finished, easy-to-clean surface.Final product is a nicely framed plaque that looks great in your house or office.
Why Choose Plaque Mounting?
It's economical. Plaque mounting is a budget-friendly alternative to traditional framing, especially for larger pieces.
The finish is non-glare. Because there's no glass, you can see your image clearly from any angle without distracting reflections.
It's built to last. The laminate protects the print from handling and everyday wear, and you can wipe it clean.
It's ready to hang. Each piece comes with a keyhole slot on the back, so you can put it on the wall right out of the box.
It matches your style. Plaque mounts are available in a variety of edge colours, so you can pick one that suits your décor.
It handles big projects. Sizes go up to 48 x 96".
What Can You Plaque Mount?
Plaque mounting works for much more than photos. Popular choices include:
- Posters
- Maps
- Certificates
- Achievement awards
- Photos
- Art prints
- Newspaper and magazine articles
- Puzzles
A few ideas to get you started:
- Travel maps: Turn a favourite map into a feature piece for your office or den.
- Milestone articles: Preserve the newspaper clipping from a big win, a graduation, or a family announcement.
- Finished puzzles: Keep a puzzle you spent weeks on, and hang it instead of taking it apart.
- Certificates and awards: Give them a professional look. For formal documents or diplomas that call for a frame, custom framing is another option.

Plaque Mounting or Something Else?
